Viviana Elizabeth Quiroga Cloninger
The First Latin Woman of International Investment Banking
Bolivian born in 1953, circumstances in her native country would forge a global path she embraced despite the many unexpected obstacles. Standing at 5 feet 3 inches tall, her petite dancing frame, fit for classical ballet and life time passion to this day, was fueled with the determination to succeed with confidence encouraged by her Russian ballet masters during her early childhood and young adult life fully inspiring the creative force found within.
Ms. Quiroga-Cloninger created the first Latin female owned investment bank in 1989 in San Francisco, California. She holds a B.S. degree in Business Administration, with a concentration in International Business from San Francisco State University.
Successfully obtaining membership approval for the creation of an N.A.S. D. brokerage and investment bank, it was within 30 days of this triumphant news that she also learned that her Swiss partner was diagnosed with a debilitating illness that would leave him incapacitated to perform his obligations and capital commitment to the financial firm, still in its infancy. This is the beginning of how Summa Securities Investment Corporation would refocus its vision to become a private investment bank with less than $100,000 of capital, a sum that is 90% less than what is needed in the industry to become a player. Yet she bank rolled the boutique firm without any hesitation, and as it was, Lady Luck had played her hand; within 6 months her first European transaction had closed. For 16 consecutive years, she directed corporate finance activities as its President and C. E. O. in the industry sectors of mining, healthcare, biotech, ag-tech carrying all risk single handedly. In the later years of her investment banking career, opportunities to become involved in the preservation of the Fine Arts developed.
She is multilingual and writes sacred poetry during her spare time. Her most memorable consulting assignment was for the Soviet Union's first practicing capitalist, Svyatoslav Fyodorov, pioneer eye surgeon and visionary humanitarian.
She is Executive Director for The St. Petersburg International Music Academy since November 2011 for the 2012 season under the direction of Alla Aranovskaya.
