CONDITIONS FOR MEXICAN STUDENTS
Promotora de las Bellas Artes A.C., in collaboration with Centro de Artes Musicales de Baja California, A.C., will present it’s first Music Camp with the St. Peterburg’s String Quartet this summer.
General info:
- Registration is limited to a maximum of: 32 students.
- Dates: July 9 to July 23, 2010.
- Scholarships available for quartets.
- The courses will take place at the Centro de Artes Musicales, Tijuana, Mexico.
Benefits:
- To provide young musicians a complementary education, and to stimulate their cultural/musical formation.
- To create a meeting point and activities for coexistence through music in an international context.
- To arouse in the participants, through their contact with music, an increased interest and sensibility, advancing their experience and artistic formation.
- To impulse music education levels.
- To identify remarkable talents.
Expected results:
The academic interaction and practice will provide participants with better skills, and will give them the opportunity to exchange their experience, promote networking, as well as the creation of future sharing networks.
Activities:
- Quartet Master Classes (morning session).
- Individual classes (morning sessions for participants of Quartet Master classes).
- String Orchestra workshop (afternoon sessions).
Repertoire:
The repertoire for individual classes and String Quartet classes shall be selected by the participants (any movement of any string quartet)
The repertoire for the String Orchestra workshop will be:
- 1st movement of Dvorak’s Serenade.
- Waltz of Tchaikovsky’s serenade.
- Pizzicato movement of Britten’s simple symphony.
- 1st movement of Mozart’s nocturne serenade.
The Encore selection is pending.
Dynamic:
- On the first day of work an internal audition will take place to define participant’s positions in the string orchestra.
- The participants that may be interested in participating on the internal soloist’s competition will have to perform in an audition on the first day of work.
- The participant may choose their piece (one concert movement for soloist and string orchestra). The interested party must undertake to notify the CAM of its participation in the course and the piece to be performed, no later than April 30th, 2010.
- Those participants that have been selected from the audition will receive master classes during the first week of the workshop, in the next week, the competition will take place in order to select the soloist that will perform in the final concert.
- The students uniform for the final concert and internal competitions will be:
Male: black pants and shirt.
Female: Black skirt and stockings, blouse with a strong solid color such as: fuchsia, purple, turquoise, orange, etc.
Concerts:
Friday, July 9
BENEFIT CONCERT with St. Petersburg‘s String Quartet.
Thursday, July 22
The final concert of the String Quartets; CAM’s lobby at 8:00 PM.
Friday, July 23
CECUT Theater: for the two final concerts (the admission of one of the concerts will be free and the other one will have a cost) of the orchestra Chamber ( 6:00 and 8:00 PM ).
Saturday, July 24
Student Quartets will give two short benefit concerts for the American Consulate.
Student Quartets will practice with the Nucleos
Sunday, July 25
Student Quartets will practice with the Nucleos in the morning and give an orquestra concert under the direction of Eduardo Garcia Barrios at 1:30 PM.
End of Camp
Insurance matters:
Two week insurance for the CAM.
I. Costs:
a. Accident insurance $60 ( 5 dlls. ) pesos per person for the 2 weeks and covers up to $20,000 pesos ( 1,600.00 dlls aprox. ).
II. Medical insurance. All US students must provide copies of medical insurance.
Transportation:
Will be provided for everyone and every day from the hotel or rest house to the CAM and back.

Is a non-profit organization that has managed the the Bi-National Mainly Mozart Festival for the last 19 years. Its main goal is to present classical music concerts, interpreted by globally recognized musicians and to contribute to the integral development of children through educational programs.
Centro de Artes Musicales de BC
Is a non-profit organization that manages the academic program of Baja California’s orchestra, it was established over 10 years ago and has the intention to expand academically to form other essential disciplines and musicals.
